There are two options for Unix Hosts running NUVU
1. The simplest way is to utilise the FTP server
included with NUVU. This sits on the windows client that NUVU
is installed on. This client must be able to see the
printers you wish to utilise. The Unix Host simply needs an FTP
client to communicate with NUVU. The FTP server provided has security
included and only allows NUVU files through.
There is no need for Samba or Vision FS with this configuration
2. Unix hosts running NUVU require a connectivity
client installed on the Windows client in order to execute a remote
shell command.
Sterland Software recommends Winsock
RSHD/95 (for 95/98/ME) or Winsock
RSHD/NT (for NT/XP) from Denicomp Systems- www.denicomp.com.
This product is priced competetively and is only required to be
installed on the windows client(s) that are being used for NUVU
printing.
Note that the server version NOT the client version is installed
on the PC that will be the print server.
Additionally Unix networks will need Samba or Vision FS installed
- file sharing for Unix/Windows networks - to allow the windows
client to "see" the Unix host.
